Professor Ramesh K. Agarwal is the William Palm Professor of Engineering and the director of Aerospace Engineering Program and Aerospace Research and Education Center at Washington University in St. Louis from 1994 to 200. He was the Sam Bloomfield Distinguished Professor and Executive Director of the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University. Dr. Agarwal received Ph.D in Aeronautical Sciences from Stanford University in 1975, M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1969 and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India in 1968. Professor Agarwal has worked in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), renewable energy systems and nanotechnology. He is the author and coauthor of over 300 publications and serves on the editorial board of fifteen journals. Since January 2002, Dr. Matthew E. Edwards has held the position of Professor of Physics in the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at Alabama A&M University, Normal, AL and served as Dean, of the School of Arts and Sciences, from 2007 to 2011, a period of 4.5 years. Previous academic positions held by Dr. Edwards prior to 2002 include associate professorships at Spelman College, in Atlanta, GA and Fayetteville State University, in Fayetteville, NC, and he was a visiting associate professor and adjunct faculty member for ten years at the University of Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh, PA, and an assistant professor of physics at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, in Pine Bluff, AR. Also, he founded in 2009 the IDC-HSHD&M (the Interdisciplinary Center for Health Sciences, Health Disparities, and Materials), which, as a center, has assisted more than 16 young faculty members and others to develop their research programs.

Frimpong is Professor and Robert H. Quenon Endowed Chair at Missouri S&T. He holds PhD (1992) from Univ. of Alberta, MS (1988) from Univ. of Zambia, and Post-Graduate Diploma (1986) and BS (1985) from KN Univ. of Science and Tech. of Ghana. His research areas include machine dynamics, machine and whole-body vibrations, fatigue modeling, augmented visualization, formation excavation, intelligent mining systems, and mine safety, health and hazards engineering. He has and continues to lead research initiatives in these areas with over $34 million funding. His research results include over 30 PhD and MS graduates, 1 book, 3 book chapters, over 200 refereed journal and conference papers and over 200 presentations. Frimpong has been recognized with Missouri S&T Chancellor’s Leadership Award, Robert Quenon Endowed Chair, Canadian Petroleum Institute’s Distinguished Lecturer Award, Award of Distinction by World Mining Congress, University of Alberta/CIDA PhD Scholar, Life Patron of UMaT Alumni Association, Grand Award by NW Mining Association and a UNESCO Research Fellowship. He is a member of the APLU Board on Natural Resources, Vice Chair of the Minerals and Energy Resources Division of NASULGC, and a member of the College of Reviewers for Canada Foundation for Innovation and Canada Research Chairs Program and ASCE-UNESCO Scientific Committee on Emerging Energy Technologies (ASCE-UNESCO SCEET). He served 5 years as a member of CDC-NIOSH Research Advisory Board, 4 years as co-chair of ASCE-UNESCO SCEET and 2 years on Japan’s Global Warming Research Consortium. He is currently the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Powder Metallurgy and Mining and Editorial Board Member for the International Journal of Mining, Reclamation and Environment. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, American Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration, American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Society for Modeling and Simulation International.

Dr Jun DING obtained his Diplom Physics from University of Wuppertal in 1986, and PhD degree from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany in 1990. He has been working on magnetic and nanostructured materials for more than 25 years. He is currently working as Professor at Department of Materials Science & Engineering, National University of Singapore. He has published over 350 journal papers with a total citation > 9000 and H-Index = 52.

Dongfang Yang received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Guelph in 1995. He joined the National Research Council Canada in London Ontario in 2001 and is now a Senior Research Officer. His current research interests include laser materials processing; pulsed laser, sputtering and e-beam deposition of thin films; new materials development for energy storage devices; chemical and optical sensors development; and electrochemical studies of organic adsorption and self-assembly monolayer. He is currently serving as a member of editorial board for 5 scientific journals including “The Research & Reviews in Electrochemistry”, “Current Chemical Research” and journal “Sensors & Transducers”. He also holds an Adjunct Professorship at both Lakehead University and Western University in Ontario, Canada.

Dr. O.L. Shanmugasundaram is working as Professor in the Department of Textile Technology at K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology, India. He received his Diploma in Textile Processing in the year 1996 from Erode Institute of Technology, India. He obtained his B.Tech. degree in Textile Technology in 2000 from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, India. He has qualified in the GATE Examination with 83.21 percentile score in the year 2003. He received his M.Tech. degree in Textile Technology in the year 2005 from Alagappa College of Technology, Anna University, Chennai and Ph.D. in Medical Textiles from Anna University in the year 2011. Dr. Sirikanjana Thongmee now is an Assistant professor of Physics, She was in Physics Department Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University. Zofia Niemczura is the Metallurgical Engineer granted with PhD and DSc degrees in Physical Metallurgy from Technical University, Poznan, PL, and from Academy of Mining and Metallurgy (AGH), Krakow, Pl. As the professor at TU Poznan she was focused on microstructure-property relationship, phase transformation in steels, heat resistant alloys, and failure analysis, which resulted in 36 publications, and 2 books. She worked later as the researcher and visiting professor in University of IL. at Chicago and ultimately accepted a researcher position in Arcelor Mittal LLC Global R&D, East Chicago, USA. Her main technical focus in recent years was: heat resistant alloys deterioration mechanism and prevention, tool steel, alloy selection and evaluation, failure analysis of manufacturing equipment, and defects in steel sheets. She has been granted of two USA patents, she published student textbook on Mechanical Metallurgy for UIC students plus several additional papers in the journals and conference proceedings. She is also recipient of various recognition during her carrier in Poland and in USA.

Rajendra Singh is D. Houser Banks professor in the Holcombe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director of Center for Nanoelectronics at Clemson University. During Oil embargo of 1973, he decided to do his PhD dissertation in the area of Silicon solar Cells. With proven success in operations, project/program leadership, R&D, product/process commercialization, and start-ups, Dr. Singh is a leading semiconductor and photovoltaics (PV) expert with over 37 years of industrial and academic experience. From solar cells to low power electronics, he has led the work on semiconductor and photovoltaic device materials and processing by manufacturable innovation and defining critical path. His current research interest is to provide global leadership in phasing out alternating current based grid by PV generated local direct current based power networks. He is fellow of IEEE, SPIE, ASM and AAAS. Dr. Singh has received a number of international awards. Photovoltaics World (October 2010) selected him as one of the 10 Global “Champions of Photovoltaic Technology”. Dr. Singh is 2014 recipient of the SPIE Technology Achievement Award On April 17, 2014 he was honored by US President Barack Obama as a White House “Champion of Change for Solar Deployment” for his leadership in advancing solar energy with PV technology. Dr. Sarker, the President, CEO and CTO of Waste Technologies, LLC (WTL) since 2013, is the sole owner of the company. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), Manchester, UK. He also has a Masters and a Bachelors degree, both in Chemistry, from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Dr. Sarker has been the Vice President of Research & Development for NSR since 2005 where he invented the technology which makes up US Patent # 8,927,797 B2 “Method for converting waste plastics to lower – molecular weight hydrocarbons, particularly hydrocarbon fuel materials and the hydrocarbon material produced thereby.” An additional 5 patents are pending. This work has garnered numerous awards both nationally and internationally. In addition to having published more than 110 research articles he acts as Editor-in Chief for 15 renowned international journals; World Research Journal of Physical Chemistry, International Journal of Chemical Research, and the World Research Journal of Environment and Waste Management and Editor of 155 and 175 of peer reviewer of national and international journals. Dr, Sarker wrote 6 books including chapters on Waste Plastic to Fuel. Guy DACULSI completed his Ph.D degree in Biological Sciences, University of Nantes in 1979. Guy DACULSI is Research Director Inserm exceptional class (DRE) at the University of Nantes. He is associated with the International Society of Ceramics in Medicine as a president (2007-2009) and Secretary General since 2009. He is also the board member of the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering Committee since June 2012. In 1978, he was the Award Winner INAVA International Group for Scientific Research in Dentistry and Stomatology (GIRSO).

Dr. Elena Cerro-Prada received her PhD in Physics from Autónoma University of Madrid (UAM). She lectured at the University of Birmingham, UK, and worked at CERN, among other research and academic positions. Dr Cerro-Prada currently serves as Professor and Head of the Physics Department in the School of Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Dr. Cerro -Prada has contributed greatly to the understanding of cementitious materials microstructure by nano-characterization and modification with nanoparticles. She is currently involved in the development of titanium dioxide nanoparticles to provide cement-based materials with photocatalytic properties, as well as computational nanotechnology for smart cementitious materials.

Prof. Hideo Miura has received his PhD from Tohoku University, Japan. He had worked for Hitachi Ltd., Japan for 20 years as a Chief Researcher of mechanical reliability of various products and moved to Tohoku University in 2003. He is the director of Fracture and Reliability Research Institute. His main research topic now is prediction and prevention of fracture of advanced functional materials and devices. He has published more than 200 technical papers in the field of mechanical reliability of various materials and thin-film devices, and has been serving as an organizer of international conferences.

Cengiz Ozkan is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Riverside since 2009. He was an Associate Professor from 2006 to 2009 and an Assistant Professor from 2001-2006. Between 2000-2001, he was a consulting professor at Stanford University. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford University in 1997. His advisors were W. Nix and H. Gao. He organized and chaired 14 scientific and international conferences; He has more than 200 technical publications including journal papers, conference proceedings and book chapters; over 50 patent disclosures, has given more than 100 presentations worldwide and is the recipient of more than 30 honors and awards. His important contributions include: the first time growth of hierarchical three dimensional graphene nanostructures; development of a unique high-throughput metrology method for large-area CVD grown graphene sheets; doping and functionalization of CVD grown and pristine graphene layers; study of digital data transmission in graphene and InSb materials; memory devices based on inorganic/organic nanocomposites, novel lithium-ion batteries based on nano-silicon from beach sand and silicon dioxide nanotubes; fast charging lithium-ion batteries based on silicon decorated three dimensional nano-carbon architectures; and high performance supercapacitors based on three dimensional graphene foam architectures.

Dr. Ozkan’s areas of expertise include nanomaterials for energy storage; synthesis and processing including graphene, III-V and II-VI materials; novel battery and supercapacitor architectures; nanoelectronics; biochemical sensors; and nanopatterning for beyond CMOS.

Professor Lixin Xue, Chief Scientist of Ningbo Institute of Industrial Technologies, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIMTE, CAS), has published over 80 scientific papers and 150 patents including 33 PCT Patents. Dr. Xue has served as reviewers for various international Journals including Journal of Materials Chemistry, Journal of Membrane Science, Desalination and Separation and Purification Technology. He is also a member of the “Thousand Talent Program” of Chinese Government.

His research interest is focused on the areas of fabricating functional polymer membranes and exploring their applications in the fields of green energy generation and storage, energy conservation and environment protection.

Dr Abbas Amini is an associate lecturer, a registered member of Western Sydney University graduate supervisory board at the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics, and the member of Work Health and Safety Committee of the same university. Before joining the Western Sydney University, he had conducted research with other Australian universities and CSIRO, at Monash University, Deakin University, and the University of Melbourne. His fine outcomes have been presented in high impact factor journals, e.g., Nature publication group, and a book published in 2016. Abbas started his teaching, industrial and scientific journey from obtaining an associate’s degree in mathematics, BSc and MSc in mechanical engineering, and PhD in both nanotechnology and mechanical engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has also updated himself by several Australian and Canadian nationally recognized professional certificates and diplomas, e.g., FULT (Foundations of University Learning and Teaching from Western Sydney University), TAE, WHS, CNC etc., since then. With his intense schedule, he has been extensively involved in teaching for many years, and worked in industry, e.g., Magna Powertrain, Toronto, Canada, as a professional engineer and industrial designer for a period of six years. Professor Xuanhui Qu is the Cheung Kong Scholars Program Professor in Materials and the Dean of Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology at University of Science and Technology Beijing. Hyung Hee Cho received the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA in 1992. Since 1995, he is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Yonsei University, Seoul, KOEAR and he is currently a president of University-Industry Foundation. His major research interests include heat transfer and thermal management for high temperature devices and he has published more than 150 papers in reputed journals. Based on his renowned reputation, he has been appointed as an Underwood Distinguished Professor at Yonsei University. Xiaoliang Wei is a staff scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in the United States. His research experience includes electrochemical energy conversion and storage, dielectric energy storage, and surface morphology studies of self-assembled monolayers. The current focus of his work is to develop novel component materials for various aqueous and non-aqueous redox flow batteries. Dr. Wei has authored and co-authored more than 30 journal publications, 6 patent applications, and 1 book chapter. Dr. Yuanzhi ZHU is the Beijing Great Wall Scholars Program Professor in Materials Science and Engineering at North China University of Technology. Prior to this, he was a Professor at Wuhan University of Science and Technology. Before he moved to Wuhan, he had worked in Hunan University and Lianyuan Iron & Steel Company for 5 and 6 years, respectively. During 2010.9-2011.9, he was a visiting scholar at Harvard University. Dr. Zhi Sun has completed his PhD in 2011 from KU Leuven. He is currently a Senior Researcher at Delft University of Technology. His main research interests include metal recycling from urban mines and industrial waste and materials design for recycling. Abd. Rashid bin Mohd Yusoff received his BA in Physics with Education from Universiti Putra Malaysia, his MSc. in Applied Physics from Universiti Malaya, and his PhD in Physics from Universidade Federal do Parana, Brazil. After graduation in 2011, he joined the faculty in the Department of Information Display at the Kyung Hee University as a post-doctoral fellow studying organic photovoltaic (OPV), organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), and quantum-dots light emitting diodes (QLEDs). In 2012, he was promoted as a Research Professor at Kyung Hee University and continues working on OPV and OLEDs as well as QLEDs. In 2012, he became the group leader responsible for the development of high efficiency OPV joint program between South Korea and Japan. In early 2015, he was selected as a Guest Professor at Ecole Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne, where he works closely with Professor Md. Khaja Nazeeruddin on perovskite solar cells. He has published more than 60 articles in these fields and being invited to various seminars and conferences. He also contributed 4 book chapters and edited 2 books on graphene under Wiley-VCH Verlag; i) Graphene-based Energy Devices and ii) Graphene Optoelectronic: Synthesis, Characterizations, Properties, and Applications. In addition, we is also one of the technical organizing committees for the 3rd Conference on New Advances in Condensed Matter Physics (NACMP 2016, February 28-March 1), Beijing, China. Since January 2002, Dr. Matthew E. Edwards has held the position of Professor of Physics in the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at Alabama A&M University, Normal, AL and served as Dean, of the School of Arts and Sciences, from 2007 to 2011, a period of 4.5 years. Previous academic positions held by Dr. Edwards prior to 2002 include associate professorships at Spelman College, in Atlanta, GA and Fayetteville State University, in Fayetteville, NC, and he was a visiting associate professor and adjunct faculty member for ten years at the University of Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh, PA, and an assistant professor of physics at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, in Pine Bluff, AR. Three summer faculty research positions that he held were at the ROME Air Force Research Lab, ROME NY, in 1996, NASA Langley Research Laboratories, Hampton, VA, in 1983, and the Naval Research Lab., Washington, DC, in 1982. Dr. Edwards is a Condensed Matter Physicist with research expertise in (1) materials of electrooptics, (2) pyroelectric/resistivity/dielectric properties of crystals and nano-particles doped organic thin films, (3) the production of large organic thin films, (4) solitons wave theory, and (5) STEM Education research and problem solving. Professor Ramesh K. Agarwal is the William Palm Professor of Engineering and the director of Aerospace Engineering Program and Aerospace Research and Education Center at Washington University in St. Louis from 1994 to 200. He was the Sam Bloomfield Distinguished Professor and Executive Director of the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University. Luisa Amelia Dempere received her Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Florida. Mufit Akinc is professor the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Iowa State University. He was also chair of the Materials Science and Engineering Department from 1995 to 2006 and served as interim Dean of engineering college in 2012-2013. Currently, he is the Professor-in charge of International Engagements for the College of Engineering at Iowa State University. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemistry from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, and a Ph.D. degree in ceramic engineering from Iowa State University. Sandeep K. Vashist is the Head of Immunodiagnostics at HSG-IMIT, Germany. He completed his Ph.D. from Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, India in 2006 and started his career as a Scientist at Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Company, Ireland (2006-2009). Thereafter, he joined as the Team Leader at NUS Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Initiative, Singapore (2009-2012). Madeleine du Toit is Professor and Head of the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She is registered as a Professional Engineer and as an International Welding Engineer (IWE) with the International Institute of Welding. Marcelo Prado was a post doc in the National Institute of Biomedical Engineering (INEB, Univ. Dr. Bikramjit Basu is an Associate Professor at Materials Research Center, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore since May, 2011. He is also currently Associate Faculty of Bio-Engineering programme at IISc. He is promoted to the position of Full Professor in March, 2011 at IIT Kanpur. Bikramjit obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, both in Metallurgical Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Durgapur and IISc in 1995 and 1997, respectively. He earned his PhD in Ceramics at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium in March, 2001. He joined IIT Kanpur in November 2001 as Assistant Professor after post-doctoral research at University of California (UCSB). Serhii E. Shafraniuk is Research Associate Professor at Department of Physics and Astronomy, Northwestern University. At Northwestern (2002-present) he serves as a PI in research projects related to electromagnetic properties of carbon nanotube and graphene field effect transistors, thermoelectric transport in carbon nanotube and graphene multi-barrier devices, and qubits. David K. Mills is a Professor of Biological Sciences at Louisiana Tech University and holds a joint appointment with the University's Institute for Micromanufacturing (IfM). He received his BA in Ancient History and Classical Civilization from Indiana University in 1977, the MA degree in Biological Anthropology from the University of Illinois in 1983 and the Ph.D. in Anatomy and Cell Biology, also from the University of Illinois in 1990. By training, Dr. Mills is a cell and molecular biologist and his studies employ a suite of protein and DNA techniques with protein synthesis and gene expression of key phenotypic markers being a key emphasis. Omid Farokhzad is an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and a physicianscientist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). Dr. Farokhzad directs the Laboratory of Nanomedicine and Biomaterials at BWH. He is a faculty member of the Brigham Research Institute Cancer Research Center and a member of the Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center. He received his PhD. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Swansea University, and has extensive research experiences and peer-reviewed journal publications in the study of nanoscale electronic materials and devices for applications in healthcare, information, photonic and energy technologies.

The research interest of the group is in the study of nanoscale electronic materials and devices. This involves the application of nanotechnology in electronics, which has major impact in healthcare, information, photonic and energy technologies. The group has the expertise in the fabrication and characterisation of nanoscale electronic materials and devices, as well as controlling their properties through surface engineering for novel applications. His current funded research projects include the development of nanobiosensors for continuous monitoring of chronic diseases and for the early detection of diseases, nanoplasmonics for photovoltaic, and fabrication of nanowires devices using printing technology.

Kanwar is an immunologist and molecular biochemist with an international reputation in investigating fundamental and applied molecular aspects of cancer and chronic inflammation. He did his Ph.D. from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. Before joining Deakin University in 2006, he was a Senior Scientist/Senior Research Fellow in the University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand. Professor Safwat was the Co-Chair of the International Conference on Wireless Networks, Communications, and Mobile Computing (WirelessCom) 2005. He also served as the Publicity Co-Chair for the IEEE International Workshop on Information Assurance in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNIA) 2005. Before joining the University of Strathclyde, he was an Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Transportation Infrastructure Safety and Security at Alabama A&M University, USA then an Associate Professor at North Dakota State University.

Dr. Saafi’ research interests include the development of nanotechnology-based material and sensing systems for civil engineering applications, nano-biocomposites for renewable energy and nano-engineered structures for sustainable civil infrastructures.

She is a Vice President of NANONET Foundation – non-profit organization. She is also Editor-in-Chief on NANONET Newsletter. She is a research assistant at the Institute of Electronic Materials Technology. She specializes in the field of materials science/chemistry/nanotechnology, including in particular the preparation of electrode (for cathode and anode) nanomaterials for lithium ion batteries and supercapacitors using various chemical methods. She also synthesizes composites with ceramic oxide or metallic materials and with carbon coatings: with graphene flakes, graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide (which are produced in our laboratory). Prof. Ajay Kumar Mishra is currently working as Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Chemistry, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a group leader of the research area for the composites/nanocomposites, water research and bio-inorganic chemistry. He has hosted several visiting researchers/scientists/postdocs in his group. Prof. Mishra has also developed a number of collaborations worldwide. Prof. Mishra has pursued PhD in Chemistry from Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi, Delhi, India. Mingdong Dong (MD) is an Associate Professor at Aarhus University Denmark. He is a PI at Bio-SPM group supported by independent research grant from the Danish Natural Science Research Council. He did his PhD study at the University of Aarhus Denmark. After obtaining his PhD degree, he continued with a Postdoctoral Research Associate Positions at iNANO Denmark and Harvard University, USA. He has made great contributions on the applications of scanning probe microscopy in surface characterizations and Nano biomaterials fabrications. Especially he revealed several novel effects in the molecular self-assembling for biotechnology applications. He is also focusing on both the implementation and further development of a novel SPM technique with a high resolution microsecond force spectroscopy, and using this technique to study the dynamics and material properties of biological systems with submolecular resolution and high scanning speed. He is also fully involved in developing new functional nanomaterials for biological applications. He has published more than 100 papers in top international journals (include Nature, Nature Nanotech., Nature Com, PNAS, Nano He also organized several international conferences and serve co-chair for the conference division including ACS, MRS society meeting etc. As another important aspect of scientific research, he also acts as referees for high impact scientific journals (Nature group, PRL, JACS, Small, Advanced Materials etc.). Sandeep K. Vashist is the Head of Immunodiagnostics at HSG-IMIT, Germany. He completed his Ph.D. from Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, India in 2006 and started his career as a Scientist at Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Company, Ireland (2006-2009). Thereafter, he joined as the Team Leader at NUS Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Initiative, Singapore (2009-2012). He pioneered and transferred successfully many technologies to industries and healthcare; filed several patents; and, published extensively (>100 manuscripts) in high IF journals and highly prestigious conferences. Based on his research outputs, he has been constantly awarded by renowned institutions for scientific research excellence, innovation and performance; received the topmost international research fellowships; and, awarded the invited memberships of societies such as RCS. He is the international expert reviewer for ~36 scientific journals (IF b/w 2.5-41) and numerous funding agencies; Executive Editor of J Basic Appl Sci and J Pharma Bioanal Sci; and Editorial Board member of J Nanomed Nanotech. Ramam has been in the field of semiconductors for the last over 25 years. He started his career with the Defense R & D labs in India working on GaAs based millimeter wave (mmW) devices and Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs). He was awarded the “Young Scientist” award for developing a process for 94GHz beam lead Schottky diode and later sent to Plessey III-V in U.K to get involved in the technology development of MMICs. He then moved to SGS-Thompson Microelectronics, Singapore as a senior manufacturing engineer focusing on bipolar integrated circuits technology, before joining the National University of Singapore. He specialized in the growth of arsenide based ternary/quaternary epitaxial materials by MBE and on the optical characterization of materials. For the last 15 years he has been with the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR, involved in the fabrication aspects of GaN based LEDs, integration of InP based photonic devices with MEMS and nanotechnology areas. He is a senior member of IEEE and has organised/chaired a number of symposia in international conferences. He is the vice-president of Asia Nano Forum (ANF), a network society of 15 Asian organizations and an active member of the ISO TC 229 mirror group on nanotechnologies. He is the recipient of A*STAR’s top award, the STAR Employee Award, for the year 2011 and is currently senior scientist III/Advisor to the SERC nanofabrication and characterization (SNFC) group at IMRE.

Madeleine du Toit is Professor and Head of the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.  She holds BEng, MEng and PhD degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from the Universities of Pretoria and the Witwatersrand in South Africa.  She is registered as a Professional Engineer and as an International Welding Engineer (IWE) with the International Institute of Welding.  Prof Du Toit has published extensively in the field of welding metallurgy and regularly consults to industry as welding engineer.  She currently serves as President and member of Council of the Southern African Institute of Welding (SAIW).  Internationally, she serves as member of the Technology Management Board and as Vice-chairperson of Commission IX (Behaviour of metals subjected to welding) of the International Institute of Welding.

B. V. Manoj Kumar obtained PhD from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, Indian in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering in 2007. After working one year as Post-doctoral researcher at Seoul National University and two years as Research Assistant Professor at University of Seoul, he joined IIT Roorkee, India as Assistant Professor in 2011. Previously, he worked as Guest Researcher at CTD, University of Ljubljana, and Lecturer (Adhoc) at NIT Warangal, India. For the last 8 years, Dr. Manoj is actively engaged in understanding the microstructure-mechanical property relation of important ceramics and composites prepared using advanced sintering techniques such as pressureless sintering, hot pressing and spark plasma sintering. Dr. Manoj did some fundamental work in the fabrication of nano crystalline ceramics, and their effect on mechanical/wear properties. Additionally, he worked on the wear behaviour of MMCs and CMCs in different fretting/sliding conditions, and processing porous SiC ceramics from polymer precursors.
